Senior Residency Applications Now Being Accepted for New
Central Point Affordable Senior Housing Community
By Pacific Retirement Services, Inc.

(Medford, Oregon) March 6, 2006 – Dena Smith, Vice President of Community Housing for Pacific Retirement Services, Inc. (PRS), announced today that Senior Residency Applications are now being accepted for Central Point Retirement Community, a brand-new affordable senior housing community opening June 2006 in the Twin Creeks area of Central Point, Oregon. The Community has 62 one-bedroom, one-bath apartments available, and 48 applications have already been received, so seniors are encouraged to apply today. Applicants must be 62 years of age or better and make less than $18,250 per year for singles and $20,850 for couples. For more information, call 1-800-714-9177; or if hearing impaired, call the TDD number at 1-800-735-2900. Apartments are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and though submitting an application does not guarantee an apartment, it places applicants on the waiting list while their eligibility is being reviewed.

Central Point Retirement Community is being developed by PRS, with Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects, in the 230-acre planned community of Twin Creeks—near
downtown Central Point and with lovely views of the Table Rocks and Mt. McLaughlin. Twin Creeks is being developed by Twin Creeks Development, LLC, with W. L. Moore, and when complete it will have a four-acre park, greenbelts, walking trails, retail shops, businesses, and residential. It will also serve as a transit center, offering access to public transportation.

“We were very fortunate to secure such an incredible location for seniors,” says Smith. “Along with easy access to transportation, services, and activities, seniors enjoy volunteering, especially with children. Mae Richardson Elementary School is nearby, so Rogue Valley Manor Community Services, co-sponsored by PRS, will be able to arrange senior volunteer opportunities that support students and the school.”
The Community Housing division of PRS is one of the top not-for-profit affordable senior housing providers in the nation. It currently has 24 senior communities operating in Oregon, California, and Texas, which serve more than 1,000 low-income senior households. The Central Point and Mansfield, Texas, communities are still in development.

“There is a serious lack of housing for low-income seniors,” says Smith, “and PRS continues to search for land to fill this need. Our success requires the commitment of city governments, as well as landowners. Thankfully, the city of Central Point and Twin Creeks Development welcomed seniors into their community, which allowed us to make the apartments available more quickly.”
